Spring has Sprung the Grass has Ris’ I wonder where the Flowers Is! My Dad would sing this little tune every gorgeous Spring morning! Spring time conjures up thoughts of warm air, fresh flowers, open toe shoes and fabulous frocks and ….. cleaning!
Here are some tips to help you freshen up your abode – room by room.
Kitchen
Before you host your next dinner party take a look inside your refrigerator and freshen it up by wiping it out with warm water with a dash of Vanilla Essence.
Take a look through your pantry and throw away anything that has expired or if you can’t find the date and can’t remember when you last used it!
If you really want to go to town, take a look at your crockery and glassware and throw away any chipped pieces (you know you’ll never use them). Once this is done see how many matching sets you have; it could be a good excuse to buy something new!
Living Room
Add life to your carpets or rugs and have them professionally steam cleaned. Your lounge will also come to life with a professional clean. To add a new look to your living room add some new throw cushions or lamps.
Bathrooms
Discard any expired cosmetics, beauty and toiletry products. Your bathroom may be sporting some other life forms after winter – say goodbye to mould – unfortunately there is nothing else for this except a good mould remover and some elbow grease, you can also add oil of cloves to your rinse water to inhibit mould!
How long is it since you’ve bought new towels? This may be the time to buy a new set and change the colour scheme – bathroom accessories can easily update the look in no time.
Wardrobe
Dry clean and pack away your winter clothes – it is also a good time to purge any items you didn’t wear during the season. Don’t forget to store your winter woolies with some camphor or good old fashioned moth balls!
If you have long since thrown away your shoe boxes, consider plastic ones to store away your winter shoes; you don’t want your fab footwear to get ruined. It’s a great idea to clean your winter shoes first to prevent any mould forming on them while they are stored.
Finally, the Boudoir
Turn over your mattress to ensure it wears evenly. Consider replacing your pillows, whilst some can be machine washed, purchasing new pillows every year or two is good hygiene! Brighten up your room, or even change the colour scheme with fresh linen.
