Having the idea is the easy part, it's the organisation that can be a little overwhelming! Here are some tips on how to make your event a success!
Why - what is the "theme" or the purpose of your event. Will it be lunch, dinner or cocktails?
Who - how many guests do you want to invite? Decide on your number then make a list.
Where - secure a venue, it might be as simple as your backyard or as grand as a hotel ballroom, but you need to lock this in ASAP. This will help establish the ....
When - Lock in the date and time. This could be governed by the event (ie a birthday) or the availability of your favourite venue.
How - Use a notebook specifically for the event. Fill it with checklists, phone numbers, brochures and anything else you need to do when organising your celebration! Some things to think about:
- invitations - email or post
- menu plan - canapés or sit down meal
- catering - self catering or hired caters
- wine, beer and soft drink selection
- seating, glassware, platters, cutlery and crockery?
- napkins and tablecloths?
- decorations
WOW - Add a bit of WOW to your party. Try a quirky theme such as colour, dress up or character theme, fund raising, cheese tasting, beer tasting.
